Artist Statement
Rosi Grillmair (*1991) ist Künstlerin, Programmiererin und Kunst- und Kulturvermittlerin in ihrer Heimatstadt Linz/Österreich.
Dort arbeitet sie sein Oktober 2020 als freischaffende Künstlerin, derzeit am Jahresprojekt “Merkwürdige Momente” das sich mit Interventionen an öffentlichen Plätzen und der Aneignung von bestehen Orten und Gegeständen beschäftigt - um diese zu künstlerischen Plattformen zu machen - kurz genug um sich zu wundern, nicht mehr.
In ihrer Arbeit steht die Vermittlung von Kunst durch das Erzählen von Geschichten im Vordergrund, ebenso die Auseinandersetzung mit bestehenden Strukturen von Orten und Dingen - und wie wir ihnen durch unterschiedliche Kontexte Bedeutungen geben und entziehen.
Ihr Medium ist einerseits das Digitale, Flüchtige durch Programmieren und Visualisieren sowie das Festhalten von Momenten, sie angreifbar zu machen, zu manifestieren durch die Anwendung von Digital Fabrication Verfahren sowie traditionellem Handwerk und Material.
Rosi Grillmairs Arbeiten wurden bei Kunstfestivals und Ausstellungen international gezeigt, sie tritt auch als Sprecherin zu Themen wie AI in der Kunst, Maker-Cultur und Creative Coding auf und ist Teil verschiedener Open Source-Communities.

Artist Statement
Rosi Grillmair (*1991) is an artist, programmer and art- and culture mediator based in her hometown Linz/Austria.
Since 2020 she is working there as a freelance artist, right now on her project “Merkwürdige Momente” which comprises interventions in public space and the appropriation of these places as well as of objects with collective history. They became surfaces for art - only for short moments - just enough so passers-by begin to wonder.
In her work the freedom of interpretation plays an important role as well as explaing matters of art, language, culture and technology throughout engaging stories and interactive environments. Also ready-made objects and existing places become subjects of art by placing them into different contexts - creating and taking away meaning.
Her media on the one hand is the digital, ephemeral - shaped by programming and visualization. On the other hand it is the capturing of moments in long-lasting, natural materials like stone, wood and fabrics. So in sum, virtuality and haptical experience (handicraft) come together throughout digital fabrication
Rosi Grillmair´s works were shown at international art festivals and exhibitions. She is also a speaker on topics of AI and art, Maker-Culture and Creative Codeing. She is also part of several open-source communities.
